Joseph John Harper

April 17, 1990 - January 2, 2010

There is a way to help others and it should not matter what
age or color they are as long as you put your hand out to help.

People should be able to go outside any time they like. Not having the
money to build a ramp or to have a door widened should not keep
you from having fun with your family or friends. I would like
to change that. With your help, we can all make a difference now!

So come with me, and make a change in the world.

Thank You,

Joey Harper

Christopher A. Harper Acting President for the Wheeled Scotsman

First Response for Erickson Retirement Communities

Chris has been working as a security guard and first responder at

Ann’s Choice in Warminster for two years now. He and his wife Janeen

are planning to renew their vows for their 25th Anniversary in 2013 in a

traditional Scottish ceremony with their three children and grandson in

tow.  Chris helped Joey launch the foundation back in 2006. “When my

son told me he wanted to find a better way for people like us to get

help, I immediately started the process of getting his vision off the

ground. All the fundraisers and events we have all grew from the seed

of Joey’s ideas. I just helped put them in motion. I’m proud to say that

because of my son, we are able to give families like ours the help they

need to make life a little easier.”

Janeen M. Harper Co-Treasurer for the Wheeled Scotsman

Lowes Employee

Janeen and Christopher have been married for 21 years, with three

children and one amazing grandson. Janeen works for Lowe's as the

Department Manager for Installed Sales.  “As Joey is my son, it was

such a great opportunity to help him help others. This foundation

also gives me a chance to alleviate some of the difficult times people

are going through and ease the challenges they will have to face.

Chris and I have been through it all as Joey’s needs changed over

the years and it means a lot to be able to help other people through

that.  I have never had a more rewarding job in my life.”

Stephanie R. Harper Secretary for the Wheeled Scotsman

Stephanie is a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Pennsylvania, a career move inspired by her brother Joey's home health aide for more than seven years, David.  She has a beautiful one year old son, Matthew Cyllis, who she affectionately refers to as "Booger," much to the loving opposition of his Mum-Mum, Janeen.  Stephanie initially started working with her brother's foundation just to help with the website, but has since become involved in grant writing and member communications, and generally whenever anything is needed.  "Joey was the most selfless person I ever knew. I've never met anyone with such a genuine desire to help people, for no other reason but to make their lives better.  My little brother wasn't able to be with us for very long, but he made me so proud in the short time that he was. I can only hope that my contributions make him proud as well."

Patrick H. Sanaghan, Ed.D.

CEO of The Sanaghan Group

Dr. Sanaghan is the president of The Sanaghan Group, an organizational firm specializing in Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Strategic Planning and Leadership Transitions. He is the coauthor/author of 5 books, numerous articles and several monographs in the fields of planning, leadership and change management.  “I read an article about Chris and Joey in the newspaper and found it very compelling. The idea that a family-founded organization was trying to help out other families that were dealing with difficult circumstances and challenges was interesting to me. The fact that Joey wanted to help others given his fragile condition was also very powerful.  When I met the Harpers, I realized that they were very honorable and kind people who are committed to making the world a better place one person at a time. The fact that all the money generated by the charity events goes directly to helping people and not to administration is especially attractive to me.  I believe that this organization will be a great organization someday.”

Sue Wagner

Elementry School Teacher

Sue has been a neighbor of the Harper's for the past 10 years.  She graduated from West ChesterUniversity with her degree in elementary education.  She received her master's degree from BloomsburgUniversity.  She is a wife, mother, and elementary school teacher.  Sue got involved with the foundation because she saw first hand the many accommodations that Chris and Janeen Harper had to do to their home in order to make it safe for Joey.  Most, if not all, of these accommodations were not covered by insurance, yet Joey needed it in order to make life safer and easier for him.  “After hearing Joey's vision to help others who were in the same boat, I volunteered to help out any way possible.”

Frank Salamone, Jr.

Head of Quality Control at Cow Chip Computer Chips based in Ivyland, Pa

Frank has been involved in Quality Assurance of industrial and commercial electro-mechanical products for 30 + years. He is currently the head of the Quality and Engineering Support Department at Cal-Chip Electronics in Ivyland, PA where he has worked since 1999.  Frank has been married 21 years to his wife, Joannie, and they have two wonderful daughters, Marisa, 14 and Tara, 21. They have lived in Jamison, PA for the last 20 years.  On why he got involved, Frank says, “I joined the foundation after hearing what wonderful support could be provided to local families, in need of a few helping hands, to complete the puzzle often times presented to those with physical challenges. Very few options were out there when insurance companies denied people the sort of “quality of life” items that the people in our community so richly deserve. It is quite simply a wonderful foundation doing great community work.”

Emily Yaskowski

Emily first met the Harper family and Joseph Harper’s Wheeled Scotsman Foundation in 2006, while researching available resources for her work.  Since that time, there have been so many discussions and shared consumers, that it was a natural fit for Emily to join the foundation in some capacity.  Emily’s strengths include fundraising, grant writing, and community development; which she hopes can benefit the foundation.

Emily obtained her Bachelor of the Arts from Ursinus College , Collegeville , PA , in 2002 and her Masters in Public Administration (Nonprofit Management concentration) from Walden University in May 2010.

Initially, Emily worked with children with Autism for many years before joining her first Center for Independent Living – Abilities in Motion in Reading , PA – in 2004.  In 2005, Emily came to Bucks County to help open the Center for Independent Living of Bucks County (CILBC), where she is the Associate Director.

Emily lives in Fairless Hills with her husband, daughters, and two cats.
