March 16, 2011
This date marks a great partnership with the Philadelphia Union Major League Soccer team. We are one of only a few local charity organizations to receive this kind of support from the Union. The help we will receive from them will enable this foundation to do more of the work in our community that we strive to do. The Wheeled Scotsman Foundation will be able to help families with even more projects not covered by medical insurance, like bathroom modifications, ramp building projects, and pool lifts to improve the lives of the physically handicapped in our community. We are also beginning some out reach programs at local schools and having a community partner like the Union will be invaluable for these types of projects.
The Wheeled Scotsman Foundation is excited about working with the Union on our own upcoming local events as well as some events at PPL Park. Look for Union players and staff at our events and be sure to thank them for their help. Also watch out for announcements about events at PPL Park in which our foundation will be involved.
We at the foundation know that Joseph would be happy to see his foundation has come this far in just five short years and that the Philadelphia Union will help to keep his dream alive and uphold his belief in that there is always a way to help one another. We would all like to sincerely thank all the staff at the Philadelphia Union for becoming our partners and are very excited about what the future holds for The Wheeled Scotsman Foundation.

April 13, 2011: Mentoring Day Assembly:
Klinger Middle School, Southampton, PA
Today we ran two assemblies with 6-8th graders for their Mentoring Day Assemblies. Thanks to Mrs. Solly and the principal, Mr. Best, for making it all possible. We had an opportunity to let the students know that it’s a lie to believe that you are smart enough or pretty enough to make a difference. The truth is what matters is that you believe in yourself and take the time to do something that will help others. It was a time to let the students know Joseph’s story and how even though he had limited mobility, it did not stop him from asking for help to make sure that others got the help they needed to live safer lives. We encouraged students to look into community service projects and invited them to participate in future Wheeled Scotsman events. This was also our chance to thank the school and staff for all their fundraising efforts throughout the school year by presenting Mr. Best with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Foundation. We were invited to come back next year, and were informed that some of the Klinger staff and students will attend the next Black Sheep Run. We are looking forward to a long relationship with the school and its staff.

The day ended with an exciting and fast paced soccer match between UGH and the Arsenals. The Arsenals won for the first time in 3 years. August 8, 2011:
Today the Foundation helped install a pressure treated ramp and railing on one side of a house including a 4x4 platform at the front door. The ramp is 20 ft long. This improvement will great help Mrs. R. Finley get out of her home and to her doctors visits. Without this ramp, she had to call an ambulance to have them take her down the 3 steps and to the doctor’s office. Now she can get out, and with a little help, she can get into a van. All work was installed by Adaptive Living Solutions, P.O Box 7202, Penndale, PA 19047. Their phone is 215-852-2608.
